Lin Shiau Lon Rocha, a student in the Computer Engineering program, has secured the 13th position in the Hyundai/CREA-SP Challenge. This collaborative initiative between the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of São Paulo (CREA-SP) and Hyundai seeks out innovative ideas from students in Engineering, Agronomy, and Geosciences programs, focusing on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), Industry 4.0, and Connected Cars.
Rocha, who is currently an intern at the University’s Department of Chemical Engineering, shares that the project, initiated this year, was based on ABNT PR 2030, incorporating and adapting the UN Sustainable Development Goals and ESG agenda to the Brazilian context. “We developed this application with the aim of assessing whether companies are adhering to the recommendations. Additionally, in the future, we plan to, for example, reach out to companies that did not perform well, contact them, and provide monitoring,” he explains.
Expressing his happiness about participating in the challenge, Rocha emphasizes the significance of having his project ranked among the top 13 submissions. “I found it very interesting; it was something quite important for me professionally. It is a knowledge that is priceless,” he concludes.

José Guilherme Pascoal de Souza, the coordinator of the Chemical Engineering program and Rocha’s advisor, underscores the importance of companies addressing the environmental aspects proposed by the event. “These results are valuable for the quick decision-making of an environmental manager, minimizing the various impacts caused by non-compliance with environmental requirements.” The professor also commends the student’s dedication to the challenge. “Our work does not end here; a project with satisfactory results in just one year is evidence that we are on the right path.”
For Otávio Marson Junior, the coordinator of the Computer Engineering program, having Rocha in the bachelor’s program is an honor, especially considering the student’s influential excellence among his peers. Regarding students’ involvement in challenges like this, the professor highlights that “Hyundai and CREA increase the visibility of the work carried out by Unaerp.”
