Luiz Eugenio Scarpino Júnior, a professor in the Law program at Unaerp, supervisor of NEPCEx – the Center for Practical Teaching, Complementary Activities, and Extension, and an Alumnus of the Postgraduate Program in Law at Unaerp, presented a lecture on the Maitê Law in Castel Gandolfo, Rome, at the International Congress “Together for Humanity” in May.
Held from the 16th to the 19th of May, this edition of the congress focused on the theme “Embracing Hope: Cultivating Peace, Dialogue, and Relationships,” organized by NGOs and entities aiming to foster fraternity among peoples and promote social actions internationally. The event was attended by approximately 200 people from 20 countries.
For the professor, the event addressed essential topics for the world, such as dialogue and peace, seeking “the exchange of international experiences, experiencing diverse cultures in actions ranging from solidarity economic actions, dialogues between different religions or ideologies, and understanding sociopolitical actions that can help create a fairer, more plural, and fraternal society.”
The congress brought forth themes of inclusion, diversity, and fraternity
Maitê Law – The topic of the lecture delivered at the Congress, the law, drafted by Junior and his wife, Professor Renata Scarpino, was sanctioned in January 2020, determining the reservation and preference of accommodations for people with disabilities and mobility difficulties, as well as improving mechanisms for the public to demand compliance from entrepreneurs with what is provided in the Disability Statute.
The professor concludes that the law is of paramount importance as it provides more dignity and ensures basic conditions of equity. “This is the scope of this legislation, which adds to other initiatives, which we hope will contribute so that no fines have to be applied, provided that the mindset in organization and public actions – both public and private companies – can receive and adapt with quality for all types of audiences,” he adds.
