Professor Murilo Daniel de Mello Innocentini, professor of the Chemical Engineering undergraduate program and the Master and Doctoral Program in Environmental Technology at Unaerp, is one of the authors of a study on the control of atmospheric pollution in the sugar and alcohol sector, entitled “Environmental and economic issues concerning the use of wet scrubbers coupled with bagasse fired boilers: a case study in the Brazilian sugarcane industry”, which was featured in an article published in Poliflash magazine, by Politecnico di Torino, located in Italy.
The research, developed by Innocentini together with Ariana Silva Ferreira, a graduate of the Master’s in Environmental Technology, and researchers from the Polytechnic of Turin and Saint Martin’s University (USA), provides updated indicators on the performance of wet scrubbers, identifying water waste and thermal energy from its use in the Brazilian sugar and alcohol sector. In light of this observation, the authors propose alternatives for optimizing a gas purification system to promote more rational water management and savings for the sugarcane sector, among other considerations. Check out the full study here.
